Sejarah Masjid An-Nabawi 


“Shalat di masjidku ini [Masjid Nabawi] lebih utama 1.000 kali dibanding shalat di masjid lainnya kecuali di Masjidil Haram dan shalat di Masjidil Haram lebih utama 100.000 kali shalat daripada masjid lainnya.” [HR Ahmad Ibnu Huzaimah dan Hakim]

Madinah Munawarah adalah kota suci kedua yang paling utama untuk dikunjungi umat Islam setelah Mekah. Di sanalah terletak Masjid Nabawi yang didirikan tahun 622 M atau tahun pertama hijriah, setelah Nabi SAW hijrah dari Mekah ke Madinah.

Sejarah berdirinya Masjid Nabawi cukup unik, yaitu ketika Rasulullah SAW masuk Madinah, kaum Ansar mengelu-elukan beliau serta menawarkan rumah untuk beliau beristirahat. Namun Rasulullah SAW menjawab dengan bijaksana : “Biarkanlah unta ini jalan, karena ia diperintahkan Allah. Setelah sampai di tanah milik kedua anak yatim bernama Sahal dan Suhai, keduanya anak Amr bin Amarah di bawah asuhan Mu’adz bin Atrah, unta tersebut berhenti, kemudian beliau dipersilahkan oleh Abu Ayub Al Ansari, tinggal di rumahnya. Setelah beberapa bulan di rumah Abu Ayub Al Ansari, Nabi mendirikan masjid di atas sebidang tanah yang sebagian milik As’ad bin Zurrah, sebagian milik kedua anak yatim (Sahal dan Suhai), dan sebagian lagi tanah kuburan Musyrikin yang telah rusak.Tanah kepunyaan kedua anak yatim tadi dibeli dengan harga sepuluh dinar yang dibayar oleh Abu Bakar Ra. Sedang tanah kuburan dan milik As’ad Bin Zurrah diserahkan sebagai wakaf.

Rasulullah SAW yang meletakkan batu pertama pendirian masjid, diikuti oleh sahabat-sahabat Nabi, Abu Bakar, Umar, Utsman, dan Ali. Kemudian pengerjaan masjid dilakukan dengan gotong royong sampai selesai.

Keadaan masjid masih sangat sederhana sekali tanpa hiasan, tanpa tikar dan untuk penerangan waktu malam hari digunakan pelepah kurma kering yang dibakar. Pagarnya dari batu tanah, tiang-tiangnya dari batang kurma, sedangkan atapnya pelepah daun kurma. Waktu itu arah kiblatnya Baitul Maqdis di Yerusalem, karena perintah menghadap Ka’bah belum turun. Luas masjid sekitar 30 x 35 m. Di sisi masjid dibangun tempat kediaman Nabi dan Keluarganya yang kemudian mejadi tempat pemakamannya.

Dalam perkembangannya, Masjid Nabawi mengalami beberapa kali perombakan. Perubahan pertama adalah membangun mihrab setelah memindahkan arah kiblat dari Baitul Maqdis ke Masjidil Haram di Mekah tahun 2 H setelah Rasulullah SAW menerima perintah memindahkan arah kiblat. Setelah itu, dilakukan beberapa kali perluasan masjid untuk dapat menampung jamaah yang semakin bertambah besar.

Luas masjid saat ini mencapai 165.000 m² serta dapat menampung sekitar satu juta jemaah pada satu kesempatan. Renovasi terakhir dilakukan oleh Raja Fahd yang menambahkan AC serta memperindah masjid dengan 27 kubah yang dapat digeser dan kubah berbentuk payung yang bisa dibuka tutup. Keindahan ini juga dilengkapi dengan hamparan marmer putih di pelataran masjid yang selalu dingin meski terik matahari terus menyengat.

Masjid Nabawi memiliki 10 menara, 6 di antaranya setinggi 99 m, serta 24 kubah. Terdapat 5 mihrab dan beberapa tiang yang konon memiliki sejarah masing-masing. Selain itu, masjid ini dilengkapi dengan tempat parkir bawah tanah yang mampu menampung sekitar 4.400 kendaraan.

Data perkembangan masjid Nabawi mulai dari zaman rasulullah SAW adalah sebagai berikut:

• Luas masjid waktu dibangun oleh Rasulullah adalah 2.475 m²,
• Tambahan pada masa Khalifah Umar bin Khattaab 1.100 m²,
• Tambahan pada masa Khalifah Usman bin Affan 496 m²,
• Tambahan pada masa Khalifah Walid bin Abdul Malik 2.369 m²,
• Tambahan pada masa Khalifah Abbas Al Mahdi 2.450 m²,
• Tambahan pada masa Malik Al Qait Bey 120 m²,
• Tambahan pada masa Khalifah Sultan Abdul Majid Al Usmani 1.293 m²,
• Tambahan pada masa Raja Faisal 600 m².
• Pada saat Raja Fahd melaksanakan perluasan, Masjid Nabawi tersebut luasnya masih 82.000 m² kemudian diperlebar menjadi165.000 m².

Hal unik lain adalah adanya satu area di dalam masjid yang dinamakan Raudhah yang berarti taman. Tempat ini ditandai tiang-tiang putih dan letaknya adalah antara rumah Nabi SAW [sekarang makam Rasulullah SAW] sampai mimbar. Luas Raudhah dari arah Timur ke Barat sepanjang 22 m dan dari Utara ke Selatan sepanjang 15 m. Konon Raudhah adalah tempat yang mustajab untuk berdoa, seperti sabda Rasulullah SAW,

Antara rumahku dengan mimbarku adalah Raudhah di antara taman-taman surga.” [diriwayatkan 5 ahli hadits]

Mawla Ya Solli wa sallim da iman abadan

‘Ala habi bi ka khayril khal qi kulli himi

Wahai Tuhanku ! selawat dan salam sudi Engkau limpahkan

kepada kekasih Mu sentiasa selamanya sebaik-baik makhluk yang Engkau ciptakan

 

Muhammadun Sayyidul kawnayni wath thaqalayn
Wal fariqayni min ‘arabin wa min ‘ajami
 
Muhammad itu adalah Penghulu dari dua dunia
dan dua kelompok (manusia dan jin),
dan ikutan bagi orang Arab dan bukan Arab.
 
 
Huwal habibul ladzi turja shafa’atuhu
Likulli hawlin minal ahwali muqtahami
 
Dialah Kekasih Allah diharapkan kesyafaatan

Doa berbentuk syair ini disusun oleh Syeikh Syarifuddin Abu
Abdillah Muhammad bin Zaid Al Bushairi yang hidup pada abad
ke-7 H. Beliau adalah seorang ulama Tarekat Syadziliyah
bermahzab Syafie, murid Abu Abas Mursyi.

Syair ini disusun ketika beliau yang jatuh sakit hingga lumpuh.
Beliau bermimpi berjumpa Rasulullah SAW dan Rasulullah SAW sendiri
yang melengkapi syair yang sedang disusun itu. 

Dengan mukjizat dan keberkatan Rasulullah SAW; beliau sembuh dari penyakitnya.

Asal Usul Qosidah Burdah

Qosidah Burdah adalah salah satu karya paling populer dalam khazanah sastra Islam. Isinya, sajak-sajak pujian kepada Nabi Muhammad SAW, pesan moral, nilai-nilai spiritual, dan semangat perjuangan, hingga kini masih sering dibacakan di sebagian pesantren salaf dan pada peringatan Maulid Nabi. Buku ini telah diterjemahkan ke dalam berbagai bahasa seperti Persia, Turki, Urdu, Punjabi, Swahili, Pastum, Melayu, Sindi, Inggris, Prancis, Jerman dan Italia.

Pengarang qosidah Burdah ialah Al-Bushiri (610-695H/ 1213-1296 M). Nama lengkapnya, Syarafuddin Abu Abdillah Muhammad bin Zaid al-Bushiri.* Dia keturunan Berber yang lahir di Dallas, Maroko dan dibesarkan di Bushir, Mesir, Dia seorang murid Sufi besar, Imam as-Syadzilidan penerusnya yang bernama Abdul Abbas al-Mursi – anggota Tarekat Syadziliyah. Di bidang ilmu fiqih, Al Bushiri menganut mazhab Syafi’i, yang merupakan mazhab fiqih mayoritas di Mesir.

Di masa kecilnya, ia dididik oleh ayahnya sendiri dalam mempelajari Al-Quran di samping berbagai ilmu pengetahuan lainnya. Kemudian ia belajar kepada ulama-ulama di zamannya. Untuk memperdalam ilmu agama dan kesusateraan Arab ia pindah ke Kairo. Di sana ia menjadi seorang sastrawan dan penyair yang ulung. Kemahirannya di bidang sastra syair ini melebihi para penyair pada zamannya. Karya-karya kaligrafinya juga terkenal indah.
Sebagian ahli sejarah menyatakan, bahwa ia mulanya bekerja sebagai penyalin naskah-naskah. Louis Ma’luf juga menyatakan demikian di dalam Kamus Munjibnya.
Sajak-sajak pujian untuk Nabi dalam kesusasteraan Arab dimasukkan ke dalam genre al-mada’ih an-nabawiyah, sedangkan dalam kesusasteraan-kesusasteraan Persia dan Urdu dikenal sebagai kesusasteraan na’tiyah (kata jamak dari na’t, yang berarti pujian). Sastrawan Mesir terkenal, Zaki Mubarok, telah menulis buku dengan uraian yang panjang lebar mengenai al-mada’ih an-nabawiyah. Menurutnya, syair semacam itu dikembangkan oleh para sufi sebagai cara untuk mengungkapkan perasaan religius yang Islami.
Qosidah Burdah terdiri atas 160 bait (sajak), ditulis dengan gaya bahasa (uslub) yang menarik, lembut dan elegan, berisi panduan ringkas mengenai kehidupan Nabi Muhammad SAW, cinta kasih, pengendalian hawa nafsu, doa, pujian terhadap Al Quran, Isra’ Mi’raj, jihad dan tawasul.

Dengan memaparkan kehidupan Nabi secara puitis, AI-Bushiri bukan saja menanamkan kecintaan umat Islam kepada- Nabinya, tetapi juga mengajarkan sastra, sejarah Islam, dan nilai-nilai moral kepada kaum Muslimin. Oleh karenanya, tidak mengherankan jika kasidah Burdah senantiasa dibacakan di pesantren-pesantren salaf, dan bahkan diajarkan pada tiap hari Kamis dan Jumat di Universitas AI-Azhar, Kairo.
Al-Bushiri hidup pada suatu masa transisi perpindahan kekuasaan dinasti Ayyubiyah ke tangan dinasri Mamalik Bahriyah. Pergolakan politik terus berlangsung, akhlak masyarakat merosot, para pejabat pemerintahan mengejar kedudukan dan kemewahan. Maka munculnya kasidah Burdah itu merupakan reaksi terhadap situasi politik, sosial, dan kultural pada masa itu, agar mereka senantiasa mencontoh kehidupan Nabi yang bertungsi sebagai uswatun hasanah (suri tauladan yang baik), mengendalikan hawa nafsu, kembali kepada ajaran agama yang murni, Al-Quran dan Hadist.

Sejarah Ringkas Qosidah Al-Burdah

Al-Burdah menurut etimologi banyak mengandung arti, antara lain :

1. Baju (jubah) kebesaran khalifah yang menjadi salah satu atribut khalifah. Dengan atribut burdah ini, seorang khalifah bisaaikh Al Busyiri dibedakan dengan pejabat negara lainnya, teman-teman dan rakyatnya.
2. Nama dari kasidah yang dipersembahkan kepada Rasulullah SAW yang digubah oleh Ka’ab bin Zuhair bin Abi Salma.
Pada mulanya, burdah (dalam pengertian jubah) ini adalah milik Nabi Muhammad SAW yang diberikan kepada Ka’ab bin Zuhair bin Abi Salma, seorang penyair terkenal Muhadramin (penyair dua zaman: Jahiliyah dan Islam). Burdah yang telah menjadi milik keluarga Ka’ab tersebut akhirnya dibeli oleh Khalifah Mu’awiyah bin Abi Sufyan seharga duapuluh ribu dirham, dan kemudian dibeli lagi. oleh Khalifah Abu Ja’far al-Manshur dari dinasti Abbasiyah dengan harga empat puluh ribu dirham. Oleh khalifah, burdah itu hanya dipakai pada setiap shalat id dan diteruskan secara turun temurun.
Riwayat pemberian burdah oleh Rasulullah SAW kepada Ka’ab bin Zuhair bermula dari Ka’ab yang menggubah syair yang senantiasa menjelek-jelekkan Nabi dan para sahabat. Karena merasa terancam jiwanya, ia lari bersembunyi untuk menghindari luapan amarah para sahabat. Ketika terjadi penaklukan Kota Makkah, saudara Ka’ab yang bernama Bujair bin Zuhair mengirim surat kcpadanya, yang isinya antara lain anjuran agar Ka’ab pulang dan menghadap Rasulullah, *karena Rasulullah tidak akan membunuh orang yang kembali (bertobat). Setelah memahami isi surat itu, ia berniat pulang kembali ke rumahnya dan bertobat.
Kemudian Ka’ab berangkat menuju Madinah. Melalui ‘tangan’ Abu Bakar Siddiq ra, di sana ia menyerahkan diri kepada Rasulullah SAW, Ka’ab memperoleh sambutan penghormatan dari Rasulullah. Begitu besarnya rasa hormat yang diberikan kepada Ka’ab, sampai-sampai Rasulullah melepaskan burdahnya dan memberikannya kepada Ka’ab.

Ka’ab kemudian menggubah Qosidah yang terkenal dengan sebutan Banat Su’ad (Putri-putri Su’ad), terdiri atas 59 bait (puisi). Qosidah ini disebut pula dengan qosidah Burdah. la ditulis dengan indahnya oleh kaligrafer Hasyim Muhammad al-Baghdadi di dalam kitab kaligrafi-nya, Qawaid al-Khat al-Arabi.
Di samping itu, ada sebab-sebab khusus dikarangnya Kasidah Burdah itu, yaitu ketika al-Bushiri menderita sakit lumpuh, sehingga ia tidak dapat bangun dari tempat tidurnya, maka dibuatnya syair-syair yang berisi pujian kepada Nabi, dengan maksud memohon syafa’afnya. Di dalam tidurnya, ia bermimpi berjumpa dengan Nabi Muhammad SAW. di mana Nabi mengusap wajah al-Bushiri, kemudian Nabi melepaskan jubahnya dan mengenakannya ke tubuh al-Bushiri, dan saat ia bangun dari mimpinya, seketika itu juga ia sembuh dari penyakitnya.
Pemikiran-Pemikiran Bushiri dalam Al-Burdah dimulai dengan nasib, yaitu ungkapan rasa pilu atas dukacita yang dialami penyair dan orang yang dekat dengannya, yaitu tetangganya di Dzu Salam, Sudah menjadi kelaziman bagi para penyair Arab klasik dalam mengawali karya syairnya selalu merujuk pada tempat di mana ia memperoleh kenangan mendalam dalam hidupnya, khususnya kampung halamannya. Inilah nasib yang diungkapkan Bushiri pada awal bait :

Amin tadzakurin jiranin bi Dzi Salami
Mazajta dam ‘an jara min muqlatin bi dami?
Tidakkah kau ingat tetanggamu di Dzu Salam
Yang air matanya tercucur bercampur darah?

Kemudian ide-ide al-Bushiri yang penting dilanjutkan dengan untaian-untaian yang menggambarkan visi yang bertalian dengan ajaran-ajaran tentang pengendalian hawa nafsu. Menurut dia, nafsu itu bagaikan anak kecil, apabila diteruskan menetek, maka ia akan tetap saja suka menetek. Namun jika ia disapih, ia pun akan berhenti dan tidak suka menetek lagi. Pandangan al-Bushiri tentang nafsu tersebut terdapat pada bait ke-18, yang isinya antara lain:

Wa an-nafsu kattifli in tuhmiihu syabba ‘ala
Hubbi ar-radha’i wa in tufhimhu yanfatimi
Nafsu bagaikan anak kecil, yang bila dibiarkan menetek
Ia akan tetap senang menetek. Dan bila disapih ia akan melepaskannya.

Dalam ajaran pengendalian hawa nafsu, al-Bushiri menganjurkan agar kehendak hawa nafsu dibuang jauh-jauh, jangan dimanjakan dan dipertuankan, karena nafsu itu sesat dan menyesatkan. Keadaan lapar dan kenyang, kedua-duanya dapat merusak, maka hendaknya dijaga secara seimbang. Ajakan dan bujukan nafsu dan setan hendaknya dilawan sekuat tenaga, jangan diperturutkan (bait 19-25).
Selanjutnya, ajaran Imam al-Bushiri dalam Burdahnya yang terpenting adalah pujian kepada Nabi Muhammad SAW. la menggambarkan betapa Nabi diutus ke dunia untuk menjadi lampu yang menerangi dua alam : manusia dan Jin, pemimpin dua kaum : Arab dan bukan Arab. Beliau bagaikan permata yang tak ternilai, pribadi yang tertgosok oleh pengalaman kerohanian yang tinggi. Al-Bushiri melukiskan tentang sosok Nabi Muhammad seperti dalam bait 34-59 :

Muhammadun sayyidul kaunain wa tsaqaulain
Ni wal fariqain min urbin wa min ajami
Muhammad adalah pemimpin dua alam : manusia dan jin
Pemimpin dua kaum : Arab dan bukan Arab.

Pujian al-Bushiri pada Nabi tidak terbatas pada sifat dan kualitas pribadi, tetapi mengungkapkan kelebihan Nabi yang paling utama, yaitu mukjizat paling besar dalam bentuk Al Quran, mukjizat yang abadi. Al Quran adalah kitab yang tidak mengandung keraguan, pun tidak lapuk oleh perubahan zaman, apalagi ditafsirkan dan dipahami secara arif dengan berbekal pengetahuan dan makrifat. Hikmah dan kandungan Al Quran memiliki relevansi yang abadi sepanjang masa dan selalu memiliki konteks yang luas dengan peristiwa-peristiwa sejarah yang bersifat temporal. Kitab Al Quran selamanya hidup dalam ingatan dan jiwa umat Islam.
Maqam Imam Bushiri Selain Kasidah Burdah, al-Bushiri juga menulis beberapa kasidah lain di antaranya a!-Qashidah al-Mudhariyah dan al-Qashidah al-Hamziyah. Sisi lain dari profil al-Bushiri ditandai oleh kehidupannya yang sufistik, tercermin dari kezuhudannya, tekun beribadah, tidak menyukai kemewahan dan kemegahan duniawi.
Di kalangan para sufi, ia termasuk dalam deretan sufi-sufi besar. Sayyid Mahmud Faidh al-Manufi menulis di dalam bukunya, Jamharat al-Aulia. bahwa al-Bushiri tetap konsisten dalam hidupnya sebagai seorang sufi sampai akhir hayatnya. Makamnya yang terletak di Iskandaria, Mesir, sampai sekarang masih dijadikan tempat ziarah. Makam itu berdampingan dengan makam gurunya, Abu Abbas al-Mursi.

Syeikh Muhammad Arsyad al-Banjari

Beberapa penulis biografi Syeikh Muhammad Arsyad al-Banjari, antara lain Mufti Kerajaan Indragiri Abdurrahman Siddiq, berpendapat bahwa ia adalah keturunan Alawiyyin melalui jalur Sultan Abdurrasyid Mindanao.

Jalur nasabnya ialah Maulana Muhammad Arsyad Al Banjari bin Abdullah bin Abu Bakar bin Sultan Abdurrasyid Mindanao bin Abdullah bin Abu Bakar Al Hindi bin Ahmad Ash Shalaibiyyah bin Husein bin Abdullah bin Syaikh bin Abdullah Al Idrus Al Akbar (datuk seluruh keluarga Al Aidrus) bin Abu Bakar As Sakran bin Abdurrahman As Saqaf bin Muhammad Maula Dawilah bin Ali Maula Ad Dark bin Alwi Al Ghoyyur bin Muhammad Al Faqih Muqaddam bin Ali Faqih Nuruddin bin Muhammad Shahib Mirbath bin Ali Khaliqul Qassam bin Alwi bin Muhammad Maula Shama’ah bin Alawi Abi Sadah bin Ubaidillah bin Imam Ahmad Al Muhajir bin Imam Isa Ar Rumi bin Al Imam Muhammad An Naqib bin Al Imam Ali Uraidhy bin Al Imam Ja’far As Shadiq bin Al Imam Muhammad Al Baqir bin Al Imam Ali Zainal Abidin bin Al Imam Sayyidina Husein bin Al Imam Amirul Mu’minin Ali Karamallah wajhah wa Sayyidah Fatimah Az Zahra binti Rasulullah SAW.

Riwayat masa kecil

Diriwayatkan, pada waktu Sultan Tahlilullah (1700 – 1734 M) memerintah Kesultanan Banjar, suatu hari ketika berkunjung ke kampung Lok Gabang. Sultan melihat seorang anak berusia sekitar 7 tahun sedang asyik menulis dan menggambar, dan tampaknya cerdas dan berbakat, dicerita-kan pula bahwa ia telah fasih membaca Al-Quran
dengan indahnya. Terkesan akan kejadian itu, maka Sultan meminta pada orang tuanya agar anak tersebut sebaiknya tinggal di istana untuk belajar bersama dengan anak-anak
dan cucu Sultan.

Menikah dan menuntut ilmu di Mekkah.
Syekh Muhammad Arsyad al-Banjari mendapat pendidikan penuh di Istana sehingga usia mencapai 30 tahun.
Kemudian ia dikawinkan dengan seorang perempuan bernama Tuan Bajut. Hasil perkawinan tersebut ialah seorang putri yang diberi nama Syarifah. Ketika istrinya mengandung anak yang pertama, terlintaslah di hati Muhammad Arsyad suatu keinginan yang kuat untuk menuntut ilmu di tanah suci Mekkah. Maka disampaikannyalah hasrat hatinya kepada sang istri tercinta.
Meskipun dengan berat hati mengingat usia pernikahan mereka yang masih muda, akhirnya isterinya mengamini niat suci sang suami dan mendukungnya dalam meraih
cita-cita. Maka, setelah mendapat restu dari sultan berangkatlah Muhammad Arsyad ke Tanah Suci mewujudkan cita-citanya. Deraian air mata dan untaian doa mengiringi kepergiannya.
Di Tanah Suci, Muhammad Arsyad mengaji kepada syeikh terkemuka pada masa itu. Di antara guru beliau adalah Syeikh ‘Athoillah bin Ahmad al-Mishry, al-Faqih Syeikh Muhammad bin Sulaiman al-Kurdi dan al-‘Arif Billah Syeikh Muhammad bin Abdul Karim al-Samman al-Hasani al-Madani. Syeikh yang disebutkan terakhir adalah guru Muhammad Arsyad di bidang tasawuf, dimana di bawah bimbingannyalah Muhammad Arsyad melakukan suluk dan khalwat, sehingga mendapat ijazah darinya dengan
kedudukan sebagai khalifah.
Setelah lebih kurang 35 tahun menuntut ilmu, timbullah kerinduan akan kampung halaman. Terbayang di pelupuk mata indahnya tepian mandi yang di arak barisan pepohonan aren yang menjulang. Terngiang kicauan burung pipit di pematang dan desiran angin membelai hijaunya rumput. Terkenang akan kesabaran dan ketegaran sang istri yang setia menanti tanpa tahu sampai kapan penentiannya akan berakhir. Pada Bulan Ramadhan 1186 H bertepatan 1772 M, sampailah Muhammad Arsyad di kampung halamannya, Martapura, pusat Kesultanan Banjar pada masa itu.
Akan tetapi, Sultan Tahlilullah, seorang yang telah banyak membantunya telah wafat dan digantikan kemudian oleh Sultan Tahmidullah II bin Sultan Tamjidullah I, yaitu cucu
